Yes, you read correctly. I finally bit the shiny bullet and joined Twitter. See "Tabatha on Twitter" at the top of my site and click on any of the links to go to Twitter and read more.
Remember, social networking sites are playgrounds for scammers. Be careful about clicking links from people you don't know. And keep on reporting those job scams at PhishBucket.org!

I haven't had much time to write lately because I've been so writing everywhere else. If you've been looking for all the latest news on job scams, this seems like a good time to steer you over to PhishBucket.org . Since PhishBucket went nonprofit back in April '08, traffic went up there and down here, which is probably for the best at the moment. Because if you know anything about my love of writing (and I write in many styles, including fiction) then you know that I'm already currently writing about topics you might be interested in, but for reasons known only to me I can't tell you what they are. At some point I'll eschew obfuscation. ;)

It seems that around November 4 or 5, someone found an unsecured directory on PhishBucket.org and inserted some spammy metadata into the html site template. The metadata involved numerous affiliate hyperlinks, all of which belonged to www.disual.net, a company in Turkey (we have never heard of the site in question). As a result, Google stopped crawling PhishBucket.org and temporarily removed all PhishBucket articles from their search results.
Yesterday the offending metadata was deleted from the site template, all directories were checked and secured, and requests have been submitted to Google for reconsideration. Apparently it can take a few weeks to get back into circulation once they are satisfied their webmaster guidelines have been met.
Please visit PhishBucket.org directly to search for reported suspicious job offers until the content is back in Google's search results.

Effective today, PhishBucket content will no longer be served up on my personal site. That means you won't find any of the research articles, comments, or the PhishBucket itself located here. The forums will be leaving shortly too.
However, you will notice the PhishBucket link in the menu is alive and well. Please update your links accordingly, and keep reporting!

UPDATE 2007-10-29: The good folks at Fraudwatchers.org are back online. Welcome back!
I can't believe I only just heard about this, but Fraudwatchers.org and a bunch of other sites were slammed back in September with denial-of-service attacks (cause: Storm botnet). The other sites - castlecop.com, scam.com, aa419.org, to name a few - seem to be back online, but Fraudwatchers wasn't able to recover:
Forum post from Robert Steinmann:
You may've read about the DDOS-Attack that I mentioned in another thread about a month ago. According to some IT-experts, the cause behind it is the Storm Botnet Many other scam-/spamfighting communities beside fraudwatchers such as castlecops.com, scam.com, aa419.org and a few more were attacked at the same time and the attack is still ongoing. Sadly, our server administrator were not able to mitigate the DDOS-Attack that we experienced and additional protection measures are way above our budget. Therefore, with the heaviest of hearts and the greatest of regrets, the immediate closure of Fraudwatchers.Org was announced. Fraudwatchers.org is no longer.

Very sorry to see you go, guys! But hey, if you ever need to fill the void, I could use some help over here!
